NOTICE OF REFERENDUM
KEWASKUM AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
NOVEMBER 8, 2016

Notice is hereby given, that at an election to be held in the Kewaskum Area School District on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, the following Resolution will be submitted to a vote of the people:

INITIAL RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $28,420,000.00

BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of the Kewaskum Area School District, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, and Washington  Counties, Wisconsin, that there shall be issued pursuant to Chapter 67, Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $28,420,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of  site improvements, new construction, renovation and modernization of Kewaskum Middle School and Kewaskum High School and acquiring furnishings, fixtures, and equipment related to the same.

Explanatory Statement and Effect of Vote:

The referendum election ballot will ask District electors to vote “yes” or “no” on the referendum election question as set forth above.

A “yes” vote is a vote to approve the borrowing of $28,420,000 by the Kewaskum Area School District through the issuance of general obligation bonds for the purpose of paying for the cost of site improvements, new construction, renovation and modernization of Kewaskum Middle School and Kewaskum High School and acquiring furnishings, fixtures and equipment related to same.

A “no” vote is a vote to deny the Kewaskum Area School District the authority to borrow $28,420,000 through the issuance of general obligation bonds for the purpose of paying for the cost of site improvements, new construction, renovation and modernization of Kewaskum Middle School and Kewaskum High School and acquiring furnishings, fixtures and equipment related to same.

In the event a majority of the electors voting vote “yes”, the District will be authorized to undertake the project identified above and borrow not in excess of $28,420,000 therefore; if a majority vote “no”, the District will not be so authorized.
