The Kewaskum School District Curriculum Department

Welcome to the Kewaskum School District Curriculum Department

There are many changes and challenges in education today.  National, state, and local initiatives have this department busy, but confident that positive student results will occur.  Curriculum is being revised and written in Build Your Own Curriculum (BYOC) which is a software program to house and manipulate curriculum, assessment, lessons, and resources.  The STAR Renaissance Assessment tool is enabling us to progress monitor 1st through 10th grade students and provide intervention or enrichment on specific math and reading skills.  The Educator Effectiveness Project is a CESA 6 pilot program that Kewaskum joined in order to begin evaluating educators with consistency using data and evidence in order to support continues growth and development in effective instructional practice.

These, along with many other initiatives, are all aimed at optimizing student learning and growth.  We welcome your feedback and questions.

Darcy Budnik, Director of Curriculum
Thank you for visiting the Kewaskum School District Curriculum site.  As Curriculum Director for the District, my goal is to increase student learning through leadership and collaboration with District staff, parents and the community.

My background in education started with earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and English from Marian University.  Later, I earned a Masters in Educational Leadership from Marian University, and most recently, my Superintendent’s license from Cardinal Stritch University.  I began my career teaching in Milwaukee Public Schools at Steuben Middle School as an English teacher.   Later, I accepted an English teacher position at Slinger Middle School.  I entered administration in Wauwatosa School District as Associate Principal at Longfellow Middle School.  I was then hired as Principal of Kewaskum Elementary and subsequently was appointed to my present position as Curriculum Director.
