Readingto develop fluency and confidence when reading

Day Learning Target Activity/Assignment
Monday to further understand the vocabulary used in the test- build background
to apply the use of context clues in determining correct vocabulary use

Spelling: Yellow Group- Sort 18
               Green Group- Sort 12
Both groups: Write meaningful complete sentences using 10 of their spelling words for the week.
Reading: Finish vocabulary  and sentence match for Chapter 5 in Little House

Tuesday To recognize this weeks spelling patterns in their reading
 

Spelling: Yellow Group- book search
               Green Group- dividing words into
                                       syllables
Reading: Begin reading Ch. 6 The Two Bears
              finsih reading on their own

Wednesday

to develop and understanding of the story line through reading and discussion

Spelling: speed sort
Reading: Discuss The Two Bears
                 Do comprehension questions
Thursday   No Reading today: We have a speaker coming in to do a presentation on Chief Kewaskum
Friday to listen/read  and comprehend the story
 
Spelling: tests
Reading: Listen to and enjoy Chapter 7: Sugar Snow

Thursday to review and practice for the Unit 7 test

Review Unit 7
We will use whiteboards to practice various skills from the unit.
Students will also take a practice test that we will review and correct in class to prepare them for the test  on Friday

Friday to assess students knowledge of skills learned during unit 7 Unit 7 Test

 No class today due to a presentation on dental health.

Thursday to come to an understanding of what it is to choose a side of an issue and be able to discuss it Introduction:How to write a persuasive essay.
Discuss what it means to try to persuade someone to do something
Debate: Have students compile their thougths on a planning sheet and have a class debate
    Topic: Locks allowed on lockers? 
Friday to apply what they have learned about persuasion to plan a paragraph based on their own opinion Begin Persuasive Paragraph
Introduce the topic: Pretzels or Cheetos?  Which is the better snack?
Introduce snack, brainstorm pros and cons as a class and informally debate
Model and do paragraph planning sheet-Due Monday
