    1. Students learn to say greetings and farewells
    2. Students are able to recognize numbers and tell time
    3. Students learn to say the calendar and weather expressions

 

  1. Activities people like and dislike
    1. Students conjugate gustar and encantar and use with infinitives
    2. Students identify and use negatives
    3. Students are able to express agreement and disagreement

 

  1. Ask and tell what people are like
    1. Students are able to describe things using adjectives
    2. Students can identify and use definite and indefinite articles
    3. Students recognize the order of words in a sentence

 

  1. Discuss what students do during the day
    1. Students can identify and use subject pronouns
    2. Students can conjugate the present tense of –AR verbs

    1. Students are able to recognize and use the verb estar

*Each topic area includes activities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

 

Major Assignments/ Requirements:

 

  • Students will write several short papers in Spanish on topics learned in class.
  • Students will present/act out plays in the front of class in Spanish.

 

Common Assessments: Students take a quiz after each chapter.  At the end of the semester students will complete an activity to demonstrate what they learned.

Major Assignments/ Requirements:

 

  • Students will write several papers in Spanish on topics learned in class.
  • Students will present/act out plays in the front of class in Spanish.
  • Students will research illegal immigration and create a project that represents their views
  • Students are required to participate every day.

 

Common Assessments:  Students will take a quiz after each chapter and take a final exam at the end of the semester worth 100 points.
