Seventh grade health at Kewaskum Middle School covers a variety of health related topics. We begin the year with our Too Good For Drugs Curriculum.
Too Good for Drugs is designed to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors for K-8 students by building five essential life skills:
• goal setting
• decision making
• bonding with pro-social others
• identifying and managing emotions
• communicating effectively
Each curriculum includes role plays, games and other interactive learning techniques designed to maintain student interest. Each level builds on earlier grade levels which enables students to learn important skills sequentially.
We continue our quarter with an in-depth study of nutrition. Students keep track of meals, learn about nutrients, the food guide pyramid, and take a close look at fast food. Students summarize what they learn and present the information to the rest of the class.
Please feel free to contact Mr. Grotenhuis with any questions related to the health curriculum.
