CORE Syllabus
7th Grade Physical Education:
 
 
Track and Field
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Understand the proper form and technique for the:
·         Shot put
·         Long Jump
·         Discus
·         High Jump.
o   Understand how to successfully compete in a relay race.
o   Compete in an Olympics style event.
 
Broomball
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Learn how to dribble and pass.
o   Learn how to shoot and defend the goal.
 
Lacrosse
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Learn how to pass, catch, and feed properly.
o   Learn how to properly defend the goal.
 
Basketball
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Demonstrate proper shooting form.
o   Demonstrate dribbling and passing.
o   Learn proper defensive stance and strategy.
 
Volleyball
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Demonstrate proper underhand and overhead passing form.
o   Demonstrate proper underhand serving form.
 
Softball
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Understand where the different players on a team play defense
o   Demonstrate proper throwing and catching technique.
o   Understand how to run the bases properly.
o   Learn how to swing a bat and contact the ball.
 
Bowling
o   Demonstrate skills necessary to be successful.
o   Understand how to score in bowling.
o   Learn proper etiquette.
o   Learn the four-step approach.
o   Learn proper ball selection.
 
 
Presidential Physical Fitness
o   To gain insight into their own fitness level.
o   To understand specific ideas to improve their fitness level
 
 
Ultimate Frisbee
o   Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o   Learn how to throw and catch a Frisbee properly.
o   Learn basic offensive and defensive strategies.

Daily Fitness
o       Develop an appreciation for the benefits of daily physical activity.
o       Develop upper body strength by performing push-ups.
o       Develop core strength by performing sit-ups.
o       Develop cardiovascular strength by running.
 
Track and Field
o       Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o       Understand the proper form and technique for the:
·        Shot put-step together step method.
·        Long Jump
·        Discus
·        High Jump-introduce the flop.
o       Understand how to successfully compete in a relay race.
o       Compete in an Olympics style event.
o       Understand scoring, timing, and measuring components of a track meet.
 
Ultimate Frisbee
o       Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o       Learn how to throw and catch a Frisbee properly. Throw and catch at a successful rate of 80%.
o       Learn intermediate offensive strategies..
o       Learn man-to-man defensive strategies.
o       Work together as a team to advance the disc down the field.
 
Basketball
o       Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o       Demonstrate proper shooting form.
o       Demonstrate dribbling and passing.
o       Learn proper individual and team defensive strategy.
o       Understand the differences between 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 basketball, including half-court play and etiquette.
o       Learn intermediate offensive plays and strategies including screen setting.
 
Volleyball
o       Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o       Demonstrate proper underhand and overhead passing form.
o       Demonstrate proper underhand serving form. Progress from serving from 20 feet away from the net to the service line 30 feet away from the net.
o       Introduce overhand serving if certain students appear ready. 
o       Pass successfully with a partner.
o       Learn defensive communication, footwork, and strategy.
 
Pickleball
o       Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o       Learn how to serve properly, including serving into the proper diagonal court.
o       Learn basic offensive hits, like the smash and lob.
o       Understand doubles play, including service rotation, and scoring.
o       Communicate with your teammate.
o       Learn how different grips effect the movement of the ball.
 
Bowling
o       Demonstrate skills necessary to be successful.
o       Understand how to score in bowling.
o       Learn proper etiquette.
o       Learn the four-step approach.
o       Learn proper ball selection.
 
Broomball
o       Demonstrate understanding of Rules and Regulations.
o       Learn how to dribble and pass.
o       Learn how to shoot and defend the goal.
o       Learn how to switch had placement to gain an advantage.
o       Work with teammates to score goals.
o       Learn how to recognize and correct penalties.
