About Mr. Grotenhuis
Education
I graduated from UW-Oshkosh in December of 1997 with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education and minors in health, coaching, and adapted physical education. I graduated from UW-La Crosse in August of 2001 with a Master's Degree in Physical Education Pedagogy. I continue to take graduate courses to further my education, I have taken over 100 graduate level credits since completion of my bachelor's degree.
Experience
In the fall of 1997, I served as an intern at Kewaskum Middle School. After graduation, I taught for one semester at Germantown High School. From 1998-2000, I taught Physical Education at Lake Shore Middle School in Mequon, WI. In August of 2000, I returned to Kewaskum Middle School to teach Physical Education and Health. The 2012-2013 school year will be my 15th year of teaching. I love working with the staff and students at Kewaskum Middle School.
Family
My wife, Amy, is also a Physical Education Teacher. Amy teaches at Riverside Middle School in Watertown. We are proud parents of four children; Cael, Logan, Reed, and Lauren. We currently live in Slinger. My mom and dad live on a farm in Cedar Grove, WI. My mom is a retired teacher, having taught in the Northern Ozaukee School District in Fredonia for 34 years. My dad is a farmer. I have a sister, Jennifer and a brother, Jon, and one wonderful Grandma. I am also a proud uncle to Bobby, Ryan, Kate, Davis, Connelly, Philip, Adam, and Piper.
Interests
In my spare time, I enjoy water-skiing, running, bicycling, playing sheepshead, nordic skiing, watching current and former students compete for the Indians, and spending lots of time with my family.
