7TH GRADE WORLD GEOGRAPHY
MRS. UHLMAN'S CLASS SYLLABUS
In Social Studies (World Geography) we will cover the following throughout the year:
Map/Geography Skills
o Students should be able to name and locate the earth’s seven continents
o Students will show knowledge of the cardinal and intermediate directions, longitude, latitude, and the tropical lines
o Students will locate and identify countries of the world and which continent or region they belong to
7 regions of the world:
o Identify the landforms, climates and natural resources of the region and their influence on the world
United States:
o Exhibit knowledge of states, capitals, provinces and territories of North America
· Test of US states and capitals
· Test of Canadian provinces and territories
o Demonstrate an understanding of the three branches and their functions of government for the United States
Latin America
o Identify the countries of Latin America
o Be aware of current events of Latin America
Asia
o Organize important facts (culture, history, religion, geography, and government) of Asia into an ABC book format
o Understand daily life of Asian youth
Europe
o Relate Western European cultures to students cultural heritage
o Research individual cultural heritage of students
Africa
o Persuade through a debate format tourism to individual countries
o Examine current life-threatening issues of Africa
o Be aware of current events of Africa
Australia
o Incorporate Internet/technology resources to understand the areas culture
Antarctica
o Understand Antarctica’s importance as a world scientific research location

o Chapter test
o Map test of the 7 regions of the world
o Expository report of European Country
o Asia ABC Booklet
