Task

Big Idea:
What causes a society to grow?

  • Your task is to explore the following events in United States History between 1800-1850 that affected/promoted the growth of our nation.
  • You will create a flapbook. Use your imagination, along with the facts you have gathered, to write about these events and how they contributed to the growth of our New Nation.  Here, you will be able to give details of daily struggles and triumphs.  You will need to write information about all 9 events. You can hand-illustrate your journal entries within your flapbook.
  • For a final project, you will act as a reporter for our classroom newspaper, "The New Nation News" publication.  You will choose one of the 9 topics listed below and write a news article. Your article must address the Big Idea:  How does your event cause a society to grow?
