Personal

For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher of young children.  My love of teaching and learning along with my students steadily grows year after year.  My primary goals are to help each child become a voracious reader and a confident problem solver.  I believe every child deserves to be heard, needs to know that their opinions matter, and benefits from giving and receiving respect to and from others.  My students and I will follow the practices and activities in a program called The Responsive Classroom.  This program mirrors my beliefs for character development and positive relationsihip building.   My method for disciplining children follows my belief that children want to cooperate and enjoy a positve classroom environment, therefore I "catch children on task"  awarding their teams with PBIS tickets.

When I'm not at school I could be found painting with watercolors or oils.  I am a member of the League of Milwaukee Artists and also belong to the Cedarburg Artists' Guild.  I frequently exhibit my work at art shows in the Greater Milwaukee Area.   I have two sons and a daughter. Sean is a mountain biker and enjoys entering cross country contests here at home and as far away as Colorado.  He is also a nature enthusiast.  Patrick is working part-time for a law firm. My daughter, Katelyn, has moved to Boston, MA and has recently graduated with her master's degree in Public Health.
