7th Grade Science 7th Grade Science Invent an Invertebrate
Learning Target:

Interested students will be able to share their invented invertebrates.

Activity/Assignment:

Students will have the opportunity to share their FAVORITE part of the assignment.

Vertebrates
Learning Target:

Students will be able to differentiate between amphibians and reptiles.

Activity/Assignment:

We will create a venn diagram comparing and contrasting amphibians and reptiles.

video field trip, time permitting


Bird Characteristics
Learning Target:

Students will be able to list the common characteristics of birds and explain how birds are suited for their differing environments.

Activity/Assignment:

We will construct a universal KWL chart.  This is a graphic organizer listing what the students already know about the bird phyla and what they would like to learn about the bird phyla.

Depending upon the questions generated, we may extend this lesson into Thursday with some research time available to answr the questions.


Finish Birds - Begin Mammals
Learning Target:

Depending upon the previous lesson, we may independently research questions and then share them back with the class.

Activity/Assignment:

If the bird phyla didn't generate that many questions, we will move on to mammals.  This group of animals is the most common to 7th grade students.  We will review the main characteristics and focus on similarities amongst ALL mammals. 


Open Book Review
Learning Target:

Students will be able to answer questions regarding fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.  The book will be utilized as a resource.

Activity/Assignment:

In leiu of a test, students will be asked to complete an open book assessment regarding the BASIC information about vertebrates.


8th Grade Science 8th Grade Science Finish Lab Activity
Learning Target:

Students will be given time to complete the lab activity begun on Friday.

Activity/Assignment:

Data has been collected.

Observations have been made.

We will use class time to complete a graph comparing and contrasting the temperature of heated water and sand.
