Parents:  This is the discipline plan I use in my second grade classroom. 

The main rules in the classroom are:

1. We work hard.
2. We are kind to each other.
3. We listen to the speaker
4. We use soft voices when we are working.
5. We keep our feet and hands to ourselves. 
6. We follow directions the FIRST time.
7. We stay in our own work areas.

This discipline procedure works as follows:  Each child has a library book pocket on a chart with his/her name on it.  Each pocket has:

• a white card
• a yellow card (warning)
• a brown card (5 min.)
• an orange card (10 min.)
• a red card (15 min.)

If a child is not following the classroom rules, he/she will be asked to flip a card.  It is possible that this could continue until the red card comes up to the top, telling them that they lose one full recess.  The next day the cards are put back in the original order with a clean start for the day.
