Welcome to the world of first grade!  Yes, there is homework in first grade.  However, we do our best to make it as purposeful and painless as possible.

Purpose of Homework:

• All students need one-on-one attention.  Homework provides an avenue for children to get the additional help and encouragement they need.
• Some homework needs "repetitive" review.  Word wall words, math activities, games, nightly reading are just a few.
• Homework provides an additional time and space for students to reflect on and apply what they have learned.
• Usually homework will be a 15-20 minute activity.  There is no homework on Friday.
