EXPECTATIONS:
Students are expected to be honest, respectful, mature, and attentive. Simply, they need to act like young adults.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Career skills needed to succeed on the job are emphasized in this class. Students increase their skill in the basics of finding and keeping a job. They will explore their interests and abilities and then work to match them with the appropriate career pathway. The activities will be compiled into a Career Portfolio the student may use for future reference. With the approval of the student’s IEP team this course may be substituted for the Employment and Communication graduation requirement.
ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Students are expected to be to class on time. On time constitutes in their seats as the bell is ringing. Students are required to make-up homework when they are absent. See student handbook for details.
LATE/MISSING ASSIGNMENTS:
Students will be given time according to their IEP to finish work if need be. They will be penalized 10% for each day late the assignment is from the time the teacher tells them they need the assignment. Normal assignment due dates rarely occur due to the students individual needs.
TEXT/MATERIALS:
CAREER PLANNING by AGS Publishing will be the text at the center of the curriculum. Students will also access online resources for evaluation of their interests and compatible careers. Possible websites include but are not limited to WISCAREERS and ONET.
