Employability Skills
Many young adults look forward to finishing high school and starting out on their own. An important part of the transformation from high school to "life after high school" is getting a job and choosing a career path. Working will enable you to establish your independence and define your own life. As a working person, you will find that other people will see and respond to you in new and different ways.
Along with career exploration, this course will assist you in developing the necessary tools to that should be used when entering the workforce or choosing your career path.
Major Projects include but are not limited to:
- Understanding of and creation of a professional resume.
- Understanding how to contact employers.
- The use of Cover Letters, Thank You Letters, & Letters of Resignation.
- The use of a "Life Span Plan" to set goals for yourself.
- Understanding the importance of Education/Training beyond high school.
- Understanding "Worker Rights", Employer Rights, & Employer Expectations.
- Understanding of technological advantages, their use, and their disadvantages.
- Understanding & importance of how "Virtues" are used in the workplace.
- Development of and use of "Interview Skills and the questions you can be asked.
