Engineering Design - Computer Aided Design

Design Engineering - Computer Aided Design

This course is the first of three "Design Engineering" courses offered at KHS.  Students will develop and understand engineering skills within two-dimensional & three-dimensional design as it relates to mechanical and architectural objects.  The objectives for this course are as follows:

  • Develop skill level in visualization and manipulation of 2-D & 3-D objects
  • Create 2-D & 3-D objects for CAM/CNC manufacture
  • Dimensioning both two and three dimensional objects
  • Become familiar with the software used and it's menu structures.
  • Understand the parametric nature of 3-D objects and how they relate to each other.
  • Gain an understanding of editing techniques in part files.
  • Develop an understanding of assembly techniques, including assembly, disassembly, and constraints.
  • Develop skills creating views and documenting the geometry using the drawing mode.
  • Management of files.
  • Develop and understand the need for speed, efficiency, and flexibility in design that gives the user a competitive advantage in the workplace.
  • Develop an appreciation and understanding of the 3-D design world as it relates to careers in the high paying world of manufacturing and engineering.
  • Understand the impact of our global economy on engineering and design.

If you are interested in the high paying careers of Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Interiror Design, Tool & Die, Tool & Die Design, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Design then this course is a must for you!
