Classroom Expectations
Mr. Bannasch
6th Grade Earth Science & 7th Grade Life Science
In order to attain a positive learning environment in my classroom, five simple rules must be followed:
1.) Follow instructions at all times.
2.) Be in assigned seat when class period begins.
3.) Bring required materials to class.
4.) Be respectful of your peers and your teacher.
5.) Safety comes first in any lab situation.
Consequences of Behavioral Problems:
Step 1 --> Non-verbal Warning
* “Teacher Glare”
Step 2 --> Verbal Warning
Step 3 --> Name on the Board/Post Class Discussion
Step 4 --> Pre-Lunch Discussion with Detention Slip
Step 5 --> Administrative notification
* Student sent to office
Step 6 --> Administrative decision
* Parent/ Student/ Teacher/ Administrator Conference
Examples of Classroom Procedures:
1.) Disruptive Behavior----------> Step 1
2.) Tardy to Class----------> Privilege Ticket Removed or 10 Dictionary Words
3.) Carelessness in the lab----------> Step 3 or 5
4.) Lack of respect to a student or teacher----------> Step 3 or 5
5.) Hazardous act toward self or others----------> Step 5
Student Notes:
1.) Think of the “Steps 1----->” as a ladder that you do not want to climb.
2.) Every situation is individual and will be dealt with accordingly. *Ex: If you are a student who is constantly getting into trouble, expect a higher step in the “behavior ladder” from the start.
3.) Severe behavioral problems such as: Fighting, Cheating, Lab Horseplay or verbal abuse will result in immediate removal from the classroom.
4.) Students who choose to behave appropriately will be rewarded with: praise, positive notes home, class recognition, extra privileges, free time, or CANDY.
5.) Absence----------> Students are responsible to contact teacher for make-up work.
*Ex: If you miss a day of class, it is your responsibility to see me before class to ask what you need to make up. It is not my job to track you down to get late work.
6.) Just a reminder….We are in this together, so let’s strive to achieve success academically, socially, and emotionally in my classroom.
7.) Keep an open mind and a positive attitude, and you will be hooked into an exciting experience this year.
