Using the resources provided on the resource page, students will research the reasons for and against the use of the death penalty. In order to complete the project, students should follow the following steps.
1) Write a one page paper stating your current opinion of the death penalty. Be sure to support your opinion with information that you believe validates your position.
2) Print off the Death Penalty Graphic Organizers. The graphic organizers focus on three categories: ethical, legal, and economical evidence.
3) Begin exploring the provided resources. As you find evidence that pertains to the various categories, record the information. Evidence can include, but are not limited to, images, statements, statistics, charts, and diagrams.
4) After you have located data supporting both sides of each of the categories, write at least a two page paper stating your opinion on the use of the death penalty. Evidence from each category must be used to support your opinion. In the paper, include whether your opinion changed from your original opinion and explain why it changed.
