Introduction

Imagine living as an African-American from the Civil War up to the 1960's.  You are treated as a second-class citizen.  You must enter stores and restaurants using a separate entrance and you must use separate drinking fountains and bathrooms than white people.  You can't even live in certain neighborhoods because of the color of your skin.  And going to school? That was nearly as dangerous as the rest.  Many African-Americans were very frustrated about the way they were treated and wanted to demand a better way of life.

Learn about the amazing actions of Civil Rights heroes and the mind-boggling events that took place during the 1950's and 1960's!
