Introduction / Task / Process / Resources / Evaluation / Teacher Resources

As a class, we will create a timeline of the civil rights movement.  Each person or partnership will research the major events that took place during the 1950's and 1960's.

As your addition to the timeline, you are going to create a brochure about an important civil rights event.  You will need to research the 5 W's: Who? What? When? Where? Why? Be sure to look for pictures to include in your brochure.

After you are done, you will write a letter to one of the people involved in your researched event.  Your letter should summarize the contribution your person made to the civil rights movement and explain why you chose your person to write to.  In your letter, you should also talk about what effect learning about your person had on your own life and learning.
