Group Counseling at Kewaskum High School

The Kewaskum High School Counseling Department offers counseling groups for a range of issues. Students meet in small groups weekly and/or biweekly in order to safely discuss and relate their experiences in a confidential setting.  A small group format can help to alleviate the feeling of being alone in tough situations and provide an opportunity to collectively brainstorm and examine solutions or tactics for coping with similar issues. Student participation in counseling groups is voluntary and limited by space.

*Start dates for groups vary, but you can express interest and/or sign-up for groups any time by completing the on-line form below. Students and parents seeking additional information should contact their school counselor.

What Groups are Offered?

Social and Personal Development Group
For students who are interested in exploring the dynamic of their social or family relationships and how they relate and interact with others. Learn effective ways to communicate with family, friends, and the opposite sex.

Coping with Depression Group
Feeling sad? Anxious? Worried all the time? The Coping with Depression group could help! (You don't have to be "officially" diagnosed with depression to join). For students who are seeking support in the school environment.

Alcohol and Other Drug Awareness Group
A group for students who are concerned about substance use and abuse. This group will address the effects of alcohol and other drug use. As with all groups, what you choose to share is confidential.

Women's Issues Group
This five week group is open to any female student at the high school. We will meet once a week, rotating times so that you don’t miss the same class each week. If you would like to meet with other young women and discuss the challenges we face and learn ways to not only to cope but to succeed, then sign up! Among the topics to be discussed are friendships, relationships, assertiveness, stress management and other topics that are important to you. This group will be facilitated by Linda Dymond of the Council on AODA of Washington County. Linda works with young people throughout our county through her various roles in communities and school districts.
