Letter of Recommendation

The Letter of Recommendation Request form can be submitted to teachers and counselors at Kewaskum High School. Before you complete the form, consider the following:

Letters of recommendation are an important part of college and scholarship applications. Read your application carefully. Most applications require two or three letters of recommendation from a teacher and/or counselor.

If the application does not specify who you should ask for a letter of recommendation, generally two of your letters should come from a teacher or counselor who knows you well. The third letter can be from a person of your choice. This should be someone who can speak objectively about your strengths - another teacher, clergy member or work supervisor is a better choice than a relative or family friend. Consider who you are asking to write your letter of recommendation. Can this person be objective about you and write a letter that will help you gain acceptance? If the answer is you are not sure, you might consider asking someone else.

It is important that you personally ask the teacher you would like to have write your letter of recommendation. Asking for a letter of recommendation may seem awkward or difficult , especially if  you have not developed a significant relationship with a teacher or you are not sure if a teacher can write you a good letter.  Your guidance counselor can help you decide who you might ask.

The information you share on this form will help your guidance counselor and/or teacher write a letter of recommendation. A letter of recommendation is an important part of any college or scholarship application.  Be thoughtful, honest, and thorough in your answer to the following questions. The quality of your recommendation letter will reflect your efforts.
