4K Weekly Blog - 12/15

Students decorating stockings for the upcoming 4K Christmas Concert

This week we learned the letter Qq, In Second Step, we learned about comfortable and uncomfortable feelings. We did a couple Christmas art projects, including a sequencing activity, patterning, and painting.

Next week will be a very busy week for us! We will be learning the letter Gg. Since we will be spending a lot of time practicing for the concert, we will not be doing Second Step. We will be practicing for the other students in the school on Tuesday. The concert is on Wednesday at 10am in the cafeteria. Immediately following the concert, we will be decorating gingerbread houses and having cookies and milk together in the 4k classroom. Please join us! You are free to take your children after we're finished, which is usually around 11:15. If you'd prefer to have your child stay and take the bus as usual, that is still an option. We are asking all families to donate a dozen cookies to share. If you could have the cookies here by Tuesday, we'd appreciate it!

On Thursday, we will be having a Polar Express Day! Please send your child to school in Pj's and pack slippers if you'd like. We will taking a "train" to the classroom to watch the movie, drink hot chocolate, eat cookies, and do a couple Polar Express activities. I will send a note home on Monday.

Also, 4k will be having Make and Take on January 11th from 5-6pm, and January 12th from 9-10am. This event is optional. All 4k families in the district are invited to KES to read a book together and make a literacy game to play and take home. It's to help boost the parental involvement component of our 4k program. I will be sending home a sign up on Monday. Please send it back regardless as soon as you can, so we know how many materials we'll need.

As a reminder, we will only be having recess on Monday's and Wednesday's (when the temperature is above 10). Please send snow pants and boots for your child to wear outside those days. If you'd prefer to leave a set here, that's fine, just let me know.  Have your child practice getting dressed in this order: Snow pants, boots, coat, hat, mittens.

Lastly, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year! I'm very thankful for all of my students and the wonderful families I get to work with at i4L.
